Our work at WE Foundations seeks to help vulnerable children break the cycle of poverty, and give the gift of dignity and hope by creating a self-sustaining environment in their communities. The goal is simple but powerful: prioritize the children, strengthen the families, and transform an entire community from surviving to thriving.
Children and families in Uganda face unique challenges due to decades of war, the HIV epidemic, and multi generational poverty. Despite these challenges, communities are filled with love, resilience, and a strong desire to create better opportunities for the next generation. In Lukaya, Uganda, something remarkable is happening.
Decades of conflict and the impact of HIV/AIDS have reshaped family life in profound ways. Grandparents are raising grandchildren. Older siblings are stepping in for their parents. Nearly half of Uganda’s population is under 17 – and in villages like Lukaya, there is little or no access to early childhood education.
The need is real. And so is the hope.
Because alongside every challenge is a resilient community – caregivers who love the children, elders who refuse to give up, and children who are eager to learn. We believe that with the right support at the right time, these communities don’t just recover, They transform.
